  • Fact Check: This video DOES NOT show recent phenomenon of lights in Uttar Pradesh sky The Fact Check team has claimed that the video is around two years old and is not related to the recent phenomenon seen in Uttar Pradesh. Listen to Story India Today Fact Check This video is around two years old and is not related to the recent phenomenon seen in Uttar Pradesh. A string of lights on the black canvas of the night sky left many Uttar Pradesh residents awestruck on September 12. Many speculated that these lights could be SpaceX’s Starlink satellites. Starlink is the name of a satellite network developed by Elon Musk’s spaceflight company SpaceX, that aims to provide internet access in remote locations. There have been multiple incidents of Starlink satellites being seen in different parts of the world. Meanwhile, a video of a train of lights in the night sky has gone viral with the claim that this was what residents of the Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh witnessed. People shared the video with captions like, “Farrukhabad breaking: Many people saw these bright trains of light. At around 7:30 pm, tiny sparkling dots were seen moving swiftly. People quickly captured that using their mobile phones.” AFWA’s investigation found that this video is at least two-years-old. It was earlier shared as Starlink satellites seen over Poland’s sky in 2020. AFWA Probe Using Bing’s reverse search, we found that this video was uploaded to a YouTube channel named “Night Sky” on January 11, 2021. As per the description given there, this video shows a Starlink satellite train seen from Poland. The same YouTube channel also shared a longer version of the video on August 11, 2020. The only difference between the two is that in the shorter version, the video has been sped up. As per the channel, the video was recorded on August 10, 2020. To sum up, an old video is being passed off as a train of lights recently seen in Uttar Pradesh. Please share it on our at 73 7000 7000 You can also send us an email at factcheck@intoday.com
