New Delhi (Vishvas News). A video circulating on social media shows spectators mocking Pakistani batsman and former captain Babar Azam, with claims that it’s from the 2025 India-Pakistan match in the Champions Trophy.
However, Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the viral claim is misleading and the footage dates back to November 16, 2024, when a few spectators teased Babar Azam during a T20 match between Pakistan and Australia.
What is going viral?
On February 24, 2025, Facebook user ‘Sanjay Kathait KPG‘ (Archive Link) shared the video, with the caption, “Pakistan fans were insulting Babar Azam a lot.. #IndvsPak”
Investigation
To verify the viral video, we conducted a Google Reverse Image search using relevant key frames of this video. Our investigation revealed that this clip had been uploaded on many social media accounts in November 2024.
A keyword search revealed that a T20 match between Australia and Pakistan took place at Sydney Cricket Ground on November 16, 2024.
Several reports confirmed that some spectators mocked Azam during this match.
We spoke to Dainik Jagran’s sports editor, Abhishek Tripathi, who confirmed that the video is from the T20 match between Australia and Pakistan on November 16, 2024, where some spectators teased Azam.
Finally, we scanned the Facebook profile of the user who shared the video with a false claim and discovered that user ‘Sanjay Kathait KPG’ has over 1500 followers.
Conclusion: A video of Babar Azam being mocked by spectators is going viral on social media, falsely claimed to be from the 2025 India-Pakistan Champions Trophy match in Dubai on February 23 2025.
