The archived version of the tweet can be seen here. Newschecker ran a reverse image search of the viral photo, which led us to a tweet by the Yemen Embassy in The Hague, dated November 21, 2021, sharing the viral photo, among others, as evidence of Houthi war crimes against children. A relevant keyword search led us to this Middle East Monitor report, dated August 18, 2020, stating, “A young girl was targeted allegedly by a Houthi sniper while fetching water for her family in the Yemeni city of Taiz yesterday. Horrific images have been shared on social media leading to widespread anger and condemnation. The pictures show a young girl believed to be nine or ten years old, named as Ruwaida Saleh, after she was shot in the head while carrying a 20-litre water container. Another child, her brother, is then seen dragging her body away from the scene.” The report stated that according to local journalists and news sources, the girl survived the attack. Similar reports can be seen here and here, confirming that the viral photo is not related to the Israel-Palestine conflict.
