  • Fact Check: Modi's measurements taken for wax statue, NOT for make-up A video of a few men and women artists taking measurements of Indian PM Modi's face, hand, leg, etc. has been doing rounds on the internet with a claim that a make-up artiste is readying him for a photoshoot. A video of a few men and women artists taking measurements of Indian PM Modi's face, hand, leg, etc. has been doing rounds on the internet with a claim that a make-up artiste is readying him for a photoshoot. The video is claimed to be a recent one and the caption which is in Hindi reads: "चलो टीशर्ट का मान लिया महंगी When translated, it claims: "Let's accept that the T-shirts he wears are expensive, but what is this make-up for, what wedding is he supposed to attend and where are all the expenses for this coming from? Which desi make-up is this?" Fact check: The claim that the artistes working with Indian PM in the video are connected with his make-up is MISLEADING. When the keyframes extracted from the video using Invid tool, are searched using Google reverse image search, we found several news reports from March 2016. According to these reports, the measurements were being taken to make his wax statue for installation at the Madame Tussauds museum. The museum artistes described him as a 'very important figure in world politics'. The museum said the Indian Prime Minister had given the museum's team of artistes and experts a sitting at his residence in New Delhi. https://www.hindustantimes. The wax statue was unveiled in April 2016. Modi's statues have been installed in Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and London museums. https://indianexpress.com/ A YouTube video was published by DeshGujaratHD in March 2016, showing the same visuals of artistes taking measurements. The description of the video states: "Madame Tussauds Museum based in London and several other cities across the world will have Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's wax statue soon. Measurements and other work to get his statue ready were completed at the Prime Minister's residence in Delhi recently. Renowned artistes had a sitting for this with the Prime Minister." It was shared by the YouTube channel of Madame Tussauds, Hong Kong unit. A similar video of artists making the wax statue was also shared by Madame Tussauds, Singapore wing. Hence, the visuals shared in the viral post are from March 2016, wherein a team of artistes from Madame Tussauds took measurements of the PM's body parts to create a wax statue. The claim that the men and women in the video are make-up artistes is MISLEADING.
