In the video, people are seen saving their belongings from the fire. Some users are sharing this video with the claim that this video is from Prayagraj Mahakumbh, where a car caught fire due to a traffic jam. Vishvas News investigated the viral video and found the claim to be false. The video is from West Africa and has no connection with Prayagraj Maha Kumbh. It is being shared with misleading claims. What is going viral Facebook user ‘Hansi Ke fuhare’ posted a video clip on February 3, 2025 and claimed, “A car caught fire due to a traffic jam at Maha Kumbh Mela “Alert” The archived link to the viral video can be seen here. Investigation To verify the authenticity of the viral post, we extracted several key frames from the video using the Invid tool and searched them with the help of Google Lens. We found the viral video on the Facebook page of DADWENE TV, uploaded on January 4, 2025. According to the information available, the video is from Africa. During our investigation, we found the video on a Facebook page named Vision Online TV. According to the information given in the video, shared on January 5, 2025, the video is of a fire incident in the Medina Market in Guinea, West Africa. The viral video was shared by a Facebook user named Jean Lamine Haba. The video shared on January 3, 2025, is said to be from the Conakry market in Marché Medina, Guinea, West Africa. The post included several other videos also related to the incident. Many other users have shared the video claiming it to be from Africa. Our investigation confirms that the viral video is not from Prayagraj Maha Kumbh. For confirmation, we contacted Rakesh Pandey, editorial in-charge of Dainik Jagran in Prayagraj, who confirmed that the video was not from Prayagraj. Fact check reports of various claims related to Maha Kumbh can be accessed on the Vishvas News website. Finally, we investigated the user who shared the video with a false claim. It was found that the user identifies as a video creator and is influenced by a particular ideology. Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the viral claim about a fire breaking out due to a traffic jam in Prayagraj Mahakumbh is misleading. The video is from Africa, which is now being falsely linked to Maha Kumbh to spread misinformation.
