  • Did Rishi Sunak release a statement about his wife being hospitalized? Fact Check Claim : Rishi Sunak released a statement about his wife Akshata Murty who was rushed to the hospital and is sick. Conclusion : The claim is false. There are no official statements from former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak confirming this. Akshata Murty was not hospitalized, and no media outlets have confirmed or reported this news. Rating : False Several social media users have shared posts about former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak releasing a statement about his wife Akashata Murty’s bad health. Instagram user ‘deepak.gusain.58118774’ shared such a claim with the caption : “Emotional Update: Rishi Sunak, the husband of Akshata Murthy, has released a statement regarding his wife’s current health condition and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to fans for their support during this difficult time, after she was rushed to the hospital due to a sudden medical emergency caused by…” Attached with the post is a quote image which seems to be Rishi Sunak’s alleged statement. View the post below – View this post on Instagram The user has shared the same post on Facebook that gained over 9,800 likes. FACT CHECK DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found it to be false. No official statement from former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak supports this claim. There is also no evidence that Akshata Murty was hospitalized, and no credible media organizations have reported such an incident. We first conducted a keyword search with the phrase “Rishi Sunak’s statement on his wife, Akshata Murty’s health” to learn more. However, we did not find any coverage in credible media outlets nor updates from Rishi Sunak’s social handles. Searches across the internet yield zero reports of any health emergency of Akshata Murty or any statement from Sunak. Following this, we checked for recent reports pertaining to Akshata Murty and her statements. A TOI article published on February 2, 2026 mentions Akshata Murty having said “I always say he’s [Rishi Sunak] the yin to my yang. So that’s a beautiful symbol, right” The article further discusses about Akshata meeting Sunak, their shared purpose and the mutual support between the couple. We did not find anything about her being sick or ill health, view a section below – Another TOI report published on February 21, 2026 discusses Rishi’s Sunak playful statement during India’s AI summit 2026. He jokingly said “If I can keep up with them (the in-laws) at family dinner, I can probably handle the summit discussions.” This statement made the crowd laugh and there were no instances about Sunak talking about his wife’s ill health or her being hospitalized. Next, we checked the person who made this claim and their account about the origin or source. The same user has made similar fake claims about Rishi Sunak’s ill health too that can be seen here and about him falsely collapsing in the UK Parliament here. The image showcases former UK PM Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty at Delhi’s Akshardham Temple during the two day G20 summit. View a screenshot of this below – Upon checking Akshata Murty’s Instagram, we found recent posts showcasing a fun number song challenge between them. There was also a post featuring both Akshata Murty and Rishi Sunak sharing story books with children to build their confidence with numbers. Additionally, recent misinformation regarding Rishi Sunak in a hospital bed has been debunked by Full Fact and these posts about Akshata Murty are also false. Thus, the claim is false.
