A picture of the support staff of the Afghanistan cricket team holding the Indian flag is viral on social media. The picture is being shared with the claim that Afghanistan player waved the Indian flag on a Pakistani ground after winning the match against England in the ICC Champions Trophy. Vishvas News investigated and found that the viral claim is false. The viral photo of the man holding the Indian flag is edited. In the original photo,he was not holding anything. What is going viral? Facebook user ‘Namo Best PM of India‘ shared the viral picture and wrote in the caption, “After winning against England, Afghanistan team waved the Indian flag on Pakistani ground.” Investigation To find out the truth about the viral picture, we looked at it carefully. We found many flaws in the image. The hands of the person holding the flag are not in proper shape. Also, the hands of cricketer Rashid seen in the picture are overlapping. There is a person standing behind the person holding the flag, whose T-shirt is half visible. We suspected that the picture was edited. In the original footage, at 9:9:22, it shows the Afghanistan team and support staff coming onto the field after the match ends and hugging each other. However, this part has been edited, and the tricolor is added in the hands of a member of the support staff in the altered version. For more information, we contacted Dainik Jagran’s sports editor Abhishek Tripathi. He told us that the viral claim is false. This picture is edited. Finally, we scanned the account of the user who shared the photo with the false claim. We found that the user is followed by 73 thousand people. The person holding the Indian flag in the viral image was not actually holding it in the original picture.
