No, spot reduction of fat is a myth. Scientific evidence shows that simply doing one specific exercise won’t target fat loss in certain areas. Weight loss occurs when you burn more calories than you consume. Yoga can help in weight management by promoting mindfulness and increasing physical activity, but relying on a single yoga pose for 30 seconds to target belly fat isn’t realistic.
Fat loss requires a mix of regular exercise, a balanced diet, and consistency. High-intensity workouts, strength training, and healthy eating habits are more effective for overall fat reduction, including belly fat.

He says, “Yoga supports flexibility and relaxation, but effective weight loss needs a mix of cardio and strength training exercises. Activities like running or cycling, paired with strength moves like squats and lunges, help burn more calories and boost metabolism. A holistic approach with varied workouts and a calorie-deficit diet is essential to reduce overall body fat.”
There are many home remedies for fat loss, with some people recommending turmeric and ginger for weight loss. However, it’s important to note that there is no solid evidence to support these claims.
Does the Seated Forward Bend pose stimulate faster hair growth?
No, hair growth mainly depends on genetics, nutrition, and hormonal factors rather than a specific exercise or pose. Yoga and meditation can improve blood circulation, and may reduce inflammatory markers in the body. But, there is no strong evidence that they directly affect hair growth rates. Additionally, there’s an indirect connection: yoga can reduce stress, which can potentially reduce hair fall due to stress.

He states, “Paschimottanasana does not have proven effects on hair growth. While yoga promotes well-being, hair growth mainly depends on genetics, hormonal balance, and nutrition. Some yoga poses may enhance blood circulation, but the specific impact of Paschimottanasana remains unsubstantiated.”

Can the Seated Forward Bend pose reduce stress and anxiety?
Yes, but only to an extent. Practising yoga regularly can help reduce stress and anxiety over time, but a 30-second session alone is unlikely to achieve this. Poses like the Seated Forward Bend can help calm the nervous system and promote relaxation. Deep breathing and mindfulness stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system (a part of our nervous system), which encourages a state of calm.
However, effective stress management generally requires consistent practice that includes multiple poses, breathing exercises, and possibly meditation. A well-rounded yoga practice supports mental health, but a brief session isn’t a cure-all.
