There are no reports, credible witnesses or authentic extended footage to verify this incident. Rating : Totally false Several social media users have shared a clip, allegedly showcasing a man climbing a mountain vertically. Verified X user ‘iamRambo’ posted a 10-second video captioned “A man in india climbs a vertical mountain “. The clip shows a man, seemingly in saffron robes, free-climbing a sheer vertical rock face without ropes, harnesses, or safety gear in what appears to be an arid Indian landscape. The post garnered over 1.9 million views, thousands of likes and can be viewed below – A man in india climbs a vertical mountain 😱 pic.twitter.com/fLvBSZzOoK — RAMBO (@iamRambo) March 9, 2026 Other users have shared similar claims that can be seen here, here and here FACT CHECK DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found that it is totally false. The video is entirely fabricated using AI and does not show a real event. There are no credible reports, eyewitness accounts or verified longer footage that confirm such an incident took place. We first conducted a reverse image search to locate the original source but could not pinpoint any. The search did not lead us to verified clips or any result that gives us any context regarding the post. However, one post uses the 10 second clip and explicitly titles it “A Man in India Climbs a Vertical Mountain — A Fictional Story”. View a section of this below – Next, we came across similar footage of a real 2020 viral video of a barefoot Buddhist monk calmly free-climbing a steep (but not perfectly vertical) granite cliff near Vientiane, Laos. This has been confirmed by media outlets like Republic World and India Today among others. However, we did not find any confirmation regarding the video shared in the claim. Following this, we did not come across any such mountain or news reports about a person climbing a mountain vertically. We downloaded the video in the claim and ran it through Hive Moderation’s AI detector. The results proved that the viral video was generated using AI, view it below – Upon backlash from the comments on this post, the person admitted that this is not real. It is not physically possible for a human to free-solo climb a perfectly vertical, smooth rock surface without ropes or aids because such a surface provides insufficient friction and grip. The viral video is created using AI. Hence the claim is totally false.
