  • FACT CHECK: Did Trump Claim To Still Be The President? A video shared on social media purports that former President Donald Trump claimed to still be the Commander in Chief. View this post on Instagram Verdict: False The claim is inaccurate. The post takes Trump’s speech out of context. Fact Check: Trump holds a significant lead over his Republican Primary opponents in a new poll, according to a poll CNN released. It shows Trump leading in New Hampshire and the Former South Carolina Governor in second place in the state. The Instagram post purports while during a recent rally Trump told the crowd that he is still the President. The Instagram post shares an X post that includes a video of the speech in question. The caption reads in part, “Trump just told everyone he IS COMMANDER In Chief… ‘I alone in this primary have borne the burden of having troops in harm’s way being CIC of the armed forces.” The video shows Trump saying, “You’re going to end up in World War III because of this. No reason for it. Millions of people will die. I know the players, I know the job, I alone in this primary have borne the burden of having troops in harm’s way as commander in chief of the U.S armed forces.” The claim is taken out of context. The video in the post takes the speech out of context. Trump gave this speech in New Hampshire on Nov. 11. Trump clearly was speaking about his experience as President not claiming to still be in office. Part of his pitch to Republican Primary voters is that he is the one with the experience to be the leader because he was in the office before.
