Fact Check
Investigations by the Rumor Scanner team have determined that the video of teachers dancing in a circle and reciting a Hindi rhyme is not related to any teacher training under the new education curriculum of Bangladesh. This video has been circulating on the internet since at least 2019 and has become viral in India and Pakistan at multiple times.
The video shows individuals standing in a circle, reciting in Hindi:
“MUMMY KI ROTI GOL GOL,
PAPA KA PAISA GOL GOL,
DADA KA CHASHMA GOL GOL,
DADI KEE BINDIYA GOL GOL,
UPAR PANKHA GOL- GOL,
NICHE DHARTI GOL –GOL,
CHANDA GOL SURAJ GOL,
HAM BHI GOL TUM BHI GOL,
SAARI DUNIYA GOL–MATOL”
This verse is a popular Hindi rhyme in India. The video was shared from various Facebook accounts (1,2,3,4) in India in September 2022, but these posts did not disclose the source of the video. The same video (archive link) was also shared in India in 2021.
Additionally, the Rumor Scanner team found that the video was posted from multiple accounts and pages in Pakistan in February 2019. Two accounts named Imran Nasir posted the video on 11 February (1, 2), and several other Pakistani accounts and pages shared it around the same time. See here & here.
However, Ahmer Khan, a fact-checker from Pakistan’s Fact Check Pakistan, confirmed to Rumor Scanner that the video does not depict any scene in Pakistan.
The Rumor Scanner team also discovered that the same video was published from various pages in India in February of that year. On 09 February, a page based in Hyderabad, India, shared the video (archive link), but these posts did not provide any information about the source of the video.
Facebook posts showing students reciting this rhyme in different parts of India have also come to our attention. See here, here, and here.
Ankita Deshkar, a fact-checker from India’s Indian Express, informed Rumor Scanner that this rhyme is not part of any Indian textbook, but is often recited by children for entertainment. Bharath Guniganti, a fact-checker from India’s Factly, concurred with this observation.
Bottom Line
A video, initially claimed to represent teacher training under Bangladesh’s new education curriculum, actually shows a group of men and women dancing to a children’s rhyme in a circular formation. The Rumor Scanner team’s research concludes that this video does not originate from Bangladesh and is not related to any teacher training programs in Bangladesh. Instead, this footage has been on the internet since at least 2019, shared by various Indian and Pakistani social media accounts. The rhyme recited in the video is famous among Indian children, but it is not part of educational textbooks, as confirmed by a fact-checker from India.
In conclusion, a video circulating since 2019, popular in India and Pakistan, was falsely claimed to depict teacher training under Bangladesh’s new education curriculum. This claim is false.
