  • A 22-second video of a massive fire is being widely shared on social media with claims that it shows a blaze at a joint India–Israel defence facility in Delhi. Users further allege that Indian media is blaming Iran or pro-Iran groups for the incident. An X user, @llliiua_, posted the clip on March 12 with a caption in Arabic claiming: “Urgent: A massive fire broke out in a joint India-Israel defense facility in Delhi, resulting in the deaths of several workers from both countries. Indian media is blaming supporters of Iran in India.” The post has garnered over 5.48 lakh views and has been reposted more than 500 times, amplifying the unverified claim. New Delhi, India — a fire broke out at a drone manufacturing factory jointly run by Israel and India. Explosions and flames erupted everywhere, with multiple Indian and Israeli casualties reported.” The post has received over 20,00 views, further amplifying the claim on social media. Explosions and flames erupted everywhere, with multiple Indian and Israeli casualties reported. pic.twitter.com/Xh9jyKzDdW— Iran Breaking News (@IBN_Now) March 12, 2026 Several other pages and users posted the same clip, claiming that the video showed an explosion in a joint India-Israel defence facility in New Delhi. Below are a few instances. Fact Check We noticed that @MEAFactCheck, the Union ministry of external affairs’ fact check account on X, had described the post as ‘fake news’. There was no further details. Fake News Alert! This is Fake News. Please stay alert against such false and baseless claims on social media! pic.twitter.com/vtqwmdj4nQ — MEA FactCheck (@MEAFactCheck) March 12, 2026 To find more information, we broke down the video into several keyframes and ran a reverse image search on some of them. This led us to a news report by NDTV India titled, “A massive fire broke out in the fish market in Uttam Nagar, Delhi, burning several shops and huts”. The report was published on March 12 and carried a screengrab of the now-viral video. It mentioned that the fire broke out in the fish market area of Uttam Nagar in the early hours of March 12. “Approximately 300 to 400 huts were destroyed in a fire that broke out last night in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area. The cause of the fire is still unclear”. We also came across an X post by the news agency, Press Trust of India. The post was shared on March 12 at 12:53 am. It carried the viral video and the caption mentioned that a fire broke out in Uttam Nagar, Delhi, at the Machhli Mandi. VIDEO | Delhi: Massive fire breaks out in Uttam Nagar near Machhli Mandi. Firefighting operations underway. More details are awaited. (Source: Third Party) (Full video available on PTI Videos – https://t.co/n147TvrpG7) pic.twitter.com/R2PyMw7iLh — Press Trust of India (@PTI_News) March 11, 2026 Hence, from the above findings, it is clear that the viral video does not depict an explosion in a joint India-Israel defence facility. It is footage of a fire that broke out in the market area of Uttam Nagar in Delhi.
