  • Fact Check: Viral Image Is An Artwork, Not Lord Krishna’s Heart Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the claim associated with the viral picture is false. This is not a real picture of a heart but is an artwork. - By: Pallavi Mishra - Published: Jan 14, 2025 at 02:01 PM New Delhi (Vishvas News). A picture of a wooden heart is circulating on social media, accompanied by various claims. One of the most popular assertions is that this is an image of the actual heart of Lord Jagannath, allegedly kept securely at the Jagannath temple. Vishvas News investigated the claim and found it to be false. The image is not of a real heart but an artwork made of tree bark and wood. It was made by the Russian artist Dimitri Tsykalov. What is in the viral post? Facebook user journalist Krishna Pandit (Archive) shared the viral picture on January 12, 2025 and wrote, “*Mysterious Jagannath Temple* When Lord Krishna left his body, he was cremated, his whole body merged into the five elements, but his heart was beating normally like a living person and it was safe, his heart is safe till date, which lives inside the wooden idol of Lord Jagannath and beats in the same way, very few people know this!.” There are many other claims made in the post but we decided to limit our investigation to whether this is a picture of a real heart or not. An archived version of this post can be seen here. Investigation To investigate this post, we used Google Lens, which led us to a photo featured in an article on the website ‘coolhunting.com’. According to the article, published on April 16, 2013, “This is an artwork created by Russian artist Dmitry Tsikalov.” We also found this picture on the website buro247.ru. The article published on March 29, 2013, stated, “This picture is from the Paris Art Fair. Created by Dmitry Tsikalov.” We found information about Dmitry Tsikalov’s artwork on thalmaray.com. According to an article published on December 14, 2017, “Dmitry Tsikalov was born in Russia. However, now he lives in Paris and works from there. Dmitry created a huge wooden heart made of bark and soil. This artwork is known as ‘Heart and Soil’.” The article also highlighted many other artworks created by Tsikalov. Additionally, we also contacted the PR team of Jagannath Temple regarding the claim. They confirmed, “The viral claim is false. This picture has nothing to do with Lord Jagannath, people are sharing wrong information.” At the end of the investigation, we scanned the profile of the Facebook user who shared this post. The user ‘journalist Krishna Pandit’ has over 6000 followers on Facebook. Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the claim associated with the viral picture is false. This is not a real picture of a heart but is an artwork. - Claim Review : Picture of Lord Krishna's heart - Claimed By : Facebook user journalist Krishna Pandit - Fact Check : False Know the truth!
