  • Fact Check: Is this how the Indian Navy trains? Nope, this video is from the US India Today Fact Check found that this video does not show the Indian Navy's training but that conducted by a US-based fitness group. Listen to Story India Today Fact Check This video shows underwater training by a US-based group called Deep End Fitness. A video making rounds on the internet shows a group of men training underwater with their hands and legs tied up. Allegedly, this is an Indian Navy training session. Sharing the video on Instagram, a person wrote, “Indian Navy training.” Its archive can be seen here. India Today Fact Check found that this video does not show the Indian Navy’s training but training conducted by a US-based fitness organisation, Deep End Fitness. OUR PROBE A simple reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to an Instagram post carrying the same video. The video was shared by an account named “Deep End Fitness” on May 29, 2023, with a “Happy Memorial Day” greeting in the post’s caption. The video had over two and a half million likes at the time of writing this. Deep End Fitness, per its website, is a US-based fitness group founded by two former armed forces members. On the group’s social media, we found several videos of underwater fitness training similar to the viral clip. As per its official website, Deep End Fitness is based in California, US, and its work is centred on “the practice of movement, breath work, and the strengthening of one’s mind” to optimise “human performance in and out of the water.” Thus, it’s clear that this video does not show Indian Navy training.
