  • A video showing a man dressed in Australian cricket team jersey raising "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and "Vande Mataram" slogans is being circulated with users linking it to the ongoing 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. What is the claim?: The text inside the viral clip said that the fan raising the slogans after the Indian team defeated Australia in the semi-finals of the tournament. (You can view archives of similar such posts here and here.) What are the facts?: The video could be traced back to January 2021, when an Australian fan raised "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" slogans during the final test between India and Australia in the Border-Gavaskar tournament. What led us to the truth?: A simple reverse image search directed us to a news report published in India Times, which carried similar visuals of an Australian shouting "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and "Vande Mataram". The report said that the incident took place after India won against Australia in the final test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The Indian team had breached the Gabba fortress after 32 years. Other sources: We further came across the same video published on an X (formerly Twitter) premium handle on 19 January 2021. Its caption said, "Australian Fan saying Bharat Mata ki Jai Vande Mataram." A recurring theme: Team WebQoof had previously debunked the same clip, when it was shared with users linking it to 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup. You can read our fact-check here. Conclusion: It is evident that the video is old and is falsely linked to 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. (Not convinced of a post or information you came across online and want it verified?
