No, that's not true: There is no such executive order posted on the White House website as of February 12, 2025. A search of Trump official remarks in 2025 also did not locate any mention of public housing or a deadline order. The claim appeared in a post on Instagram on February 6, 2025. The text overlay on an image said: Trump signed the executive order that individuals who are on public housing got 2 years effective 2026, you have to figure your life out because public housing isn't something you suppose to be on all your life, it's only to get you on your feet The post included video commentary from an unidentified man. Lead Stories reviewed the Presidential Actions page (archived here) of the White House website. As of February 12, 2025, there was no executive order posted that dealt with public housing. Lead Stories also read through posted transcripts of the president's remarks on the White House site (archived here) since he took office January 20, 2025. Again, as of February 12, 2025, there was no mention of public housing or a deadline order. Lead Stories contacted the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for comment. A spokesperson replied that they were reviewing the request and would respond. This fact check will be updated with any response provided by HUD.
