The FBI also recently charged a neo-Nazi leader for supposedly planning to attack Baltimore’s power grid, according to Reuters. The Facebook post purports U.S. Marines allegedly caught FBI agents trying to sabotage a substation in Meridian, Idaho, on Super Bowl Sunday. The post further claims the Marines opened fire and killed FBI agents, who were disguised in clothing in support of former President Donald Trump before they could attack the substation. The claim is false. There are no credible news reports suggesting U.S. Marines caught FBI agents trying to sabotage the substation in Meridian, Idaho. Likewise, the claim is neither mentioned on the Marines nor the FBI’s respective websites or their verified social media accounts. In addition, the DOJ has not publicly commented on the purported claim. A keyword search reveals the claim stems from a Feb. 15 article published on the website “Real Raw News.” A disclaimer included on the site’s “About Us” page indicates it contains “humor, parody, and satire.” (RELATED: Did The Navy JAG Corps Sentence Jerome Adams To Death?) This is not the first time the website has published a story about a substation attack. In a Dec. 5 article, the website highlighted an incident where North Carolina residents allegedly decried “Martial Law” restrictions in their state after a gunman purportedly opened fire on two substations. Check Your Fact has contacted the U.S. Marine Corps and the FBI for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received.
