A picture doing rounds shows a person carrying a corpse on his bicycle. The picture is being shared as recent. Vishvas News investigated the found the post to be misleading. In fact, the picture is from Majuli, Assam from April 2017. Due to lack of road, a person had to take his younger brother’s body by tying it on a bicycle. Claim On May 6, Facebook user Afzal Siddiqui uploaded a picture and wrote: “Why can’t we sleep now without any worry, what is left is to be lost. I am speechless!” People are taking this picture as viral death in Corona. View the archived version of the Facebook post here. Investigation Vishvas News used Google reverse image search tool to check the viral picture. We found the original picture in old news published on the website of the Indian Express. On April 19, 2017, it was reported in the news that due to the absence of a road in Majuli, Assam, a person had to carry the body of his younger brother on a bicycle. Read the full news here. We also found this news on Jansatta.com. Vishvas News contacted the local journalist of Assam, Digantar Boragi of Neomi Baarta newspaper. He said that the viral post is misleading. This picture is from 2017 as not recent. We scanned the profile of the Facebook user Afzal Siddiqui who shared the viral post. We found that the user is based out of Srinagar. Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated the found the post to be misleading. In fact, the picture is from Majuli, Assam from April, 2017.
