  • FACT CHECK: Did Protesters Replace The American Flag With The Palestinian Flag At The Golden Gate Bridge? An image shared on Facebook claims activists purportedly replaced an American flag with a Palestinian flag at the Golden Gate Bridge during a recent demonstration. Verdict: False While activists hoisted a Palestinian flag, they did not remove the American flag, a video referenced in a KTVU article shows. Fact Check: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it plans to discipline soldiers who prayed and sang a Hebrew song inside a mosque in Gaza, according to BBC News. Clips of the soldiers inside the mosque have circulated on social media, the outlet reported. The Facebook image claims activists purportedly replaced the American flag with the Palestinian flag at the Golden Gate Bridge during a recent demonstration. “They have no respect for America,” the image’s caption reads in part. The claim is false. While activists hoisted a Palestinian flag, they did not remove the American flag, a video referenced in a KTVU article shows. The video features a screen recording of an Instagram Live broadcast in which the American and Palestinian flags are both visible. According to the article, the “Palestinian flag hung for 45 minutes before it was taken down,” and “one protestor was arrested for climbing the flag pole.” Likewise, an article from ABC7 News also indicated protestors hoisted a Palestinian flag during the protest, but it was removed. The protest was organized by faith leaders, who walked across the Golden Gate Bridge to symbolically call for an “immediate cease-fire” in the current Israel-Hamas conflict, the outlet reported. In addition, the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District has not commented on the claim via a press release or a statement shared on its social media accounts. (RELATED: Israeli Army Commander’s Comments Falsely Edited In X Video) Multiple pro-Palestine protests have occurred across the globe since the start of the current Israel-Hamas conflict on Oct. 7. Check Your Fact has contacted the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District, who directed us to a recent fact check Reuters published about the claim.
