राफेल मामले में सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने राहुल गांधी के दिए बयान ‘चौकीदार चोर है’ पर सफाई मांगी थी। जिसके राहुल गांधी ने 27 पन्नों का एफिडेविट कोर्ट में पेश किया था। इसके बाद ही मीडिया में अलग-अलग हेडलाइन्स के साथ इस खबर को चलाया गया। इन हेडलाइन्स की वजह से मामले को लेकर उलझन बढ़ गई। कई लोगों ने चुनावी फायदे के लिए इस खबर को गलत तरीके से पेश करना भी शुरू कर दिया।

खबर को लेकर तब ज्यादा गलतफेहमी बढ़ी जब केंद्रीय मंत्री स्मृति ईरानी ने रिप्बलिक टीवी का एक ट्वीट अधूरी जानकारी के साथ सांझा किया।
झूठ के कपाल पर, हुआ सत्य का प्रहार।

हमने पूरी जानकारी लेने के लिए उस एफिडेविट को तलाशना शुरू किया जो कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट में पेश किया था। हमें कई अखबारों के लिंक मिले जिन्होंने राहुल की कोर्ट में दी गई सफाई को विस्तार से छापा था। इकॉनोमिक टाइम्स का लेख आप नीचे दिए गए लिंक पर पढ़ सकते हैं जिसमें एफिडेविट के बारे में जानकारी दी गई है।
मिली जानकारी के मुताबिक राहुल गांधी ने माना की सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कभी भी ‘चौकीदार चोर है’ वाला बयान नहीं दिया। उन्हें खेद है कि heat of the moment यानि जोश में आकर उन्होंने अपने बयान में सुप्रीम कोर्ट के नाम का इस्तेमाल किया जबकि ये हम सब जानते हैं कि कोई भी कोर्ट इस तरह का बयान नहीं दे सकता।
