  • Authentic video footage taken from multiple angles provides compelling visual and audio evidence of Brian McGinnis' arm, which was lodged in a doorframe, breaking as Montana Sen. Tim Sheehy joined police officers in forcibly removing him from a congressional hearing. Capitol Hill Police said in a statement that he "got his own arm stuck in a door," and McGinnis later posted that his arm was broken. We did not, however, review official medical records, nor were we able to reach McGinnis' office for comment. Given the number of factors, it is not possible to state whether Sheehy himself broke McGinnis' arm. In March 2026, multiple bystanders recorded police and Sen. Tim Sheehy, a Montana Republican, forcibly removing veteran Brian McGinnis from a room after he disrupted a Footage of the incident gained traction online, with numerous people claiming the veteran's arm broke as he resisted removal. One video posted on social media (archived) showed McGinnis saying, "America does not want to send its sons and daughters to war for Israel." Another post (archived) featuring bystander footage had received more than 7.2 million views as of this writing. It read: BREAKING 🚨 MARINE: "NO ONE WANTS TO DIE FOR ISRAEL" U.S. Marine Brian McGinnis got dragged out of a senate hearing for standing up and saying what everyone is thinking. Reports that they BROKE his hand. This is a patriot. Another specified that "Senator Sheehy joined Capitol Police in lifting up and ejecting anti war protestor Brian McGinnis." Snopes reviewed videos of the incident taken from multiple angles. They showed that as Sheehy joined the police in forcibly removing McGinnis, McGinnis' arm (which was lodged in a doorframe) visibly broke with a loud snap, after which McGinnis continued to struggle freeing his arm from the doorframe. As a result of this video evidence, we've rated the claim that McGinnis' arm broke true. Some readers asked whether Sheehy was personally responsible for the injury. Your inability to name that shows your [inaudible, but possibly 'ineffectiveness'] as leaders. This is wrong, and nobody want to fight for Israel." Sheehy — who later Capitol Police were attempting to remove an unhinged protestor from the Armed Services hearing. He was fighting back. I decided to help out and deescalate the situation. This gentleman came to the Capitol looking for a confrontation, and he got one. I hope he gets the help he needs without causing further violence. Capitol Hill police said via email that they could not discuss "specific medical information," adding that he "got his own arm stuck" in the door. At approximately minute 00:53 of this video, McGinnis' arm visibly and audibly snapped. From 2:51 onward, as police attempted to hold his arms behind his back against a wall, the veteran said, "My arm is f***ing broke ... my left arm is broke." McGinnis, a Green Party candidate for Senate, also later said on social media that his arm was broken, writing (archived), "And for the record, I've been running long before this, and yes even after breaking my arm standing up for what I believe in." We reached out to A fundraiser organized by one of McGinnis' relatives posted an update on March 6, reading, "Brian is currently scheduled for surgery on the 2 fractures in his forearm this afternoon. Right now that is all we know, as his wife has still been unable to see him!" McGinnis was arrested shortly after his arm broke. Capitol Hill police confirmed via email that McGinnis was "facing three counts of Assault on a Police Officer, as well as three counts of Resisting Arrest, and Crowding, Obstructing, and Incommoding for the unlawful demonstration."
