  • Il 2 marzo 2022 su Facebook è stata pubblicata un’immagine che mostra una presunta inserzione presente nel sito di e-commerce eBay in cui si vede un carro armato russo in vendita per 400 mila dollari. L’immagine è accompagnata da questo commento, scritto da chi ha pubblicato il post su Facebook: «Vendesi carri armati su eBay catturati in Ucraina». Il riferimento è all’attacco russo all’Ucraina, iniziato nella notte tra il 23 e il 24 febbraio 2022. Si tratta di una notizia falsa. Non esiste su eBay una simile inserzione. La foto del carro armato all’interno della falsa inserzione è stata in realtà pubblicata nel 2010 su Defencetalk.com, sito d’informazione sulle armi, come si può verificare qui. Contattato dal sito di fact-checking Check your fact, un portavoce di eBay ha smentito la notizia affermando che «nessun carro armato è stato venduto su eBay» perché sul noto sito di e-commerce non è possibile vendere «carri armati e qualsiasi altro veicolo militare».
