  • FACT CHECK: No, Donald Trump Did Not Make A TRUTH Social Post Saying He Hopes ‘America Obliterates Israel’ An image shared on Instagram purports to show a TRUTH Social post from 2024 Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump about America obliterating Israel. View this post on Instagram Verdict: False The claim is false, as the image is digitally altered. In the original post, shared on TRUTH Social in July 2024, Trump wrote that he “hope[d] America obliterates Iran,” not Israel. Fact Check: Vem Miller, a 49-year-old man from Las Vegas, was arrested outside of Trump’s recent campaign rally in Coachella, California, according to USA Today. Miller was allegedly carrying “a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine” at the time of his arrest, the outlet reported. The Instagram image, which has received over 700 likes as of writing, purports to show a TRUTH Social post from Trump about America obliterating Israel. “If they do ‘assassinate President Trump,’ which is always a possibility, I hope that America obliterates Israel, wipes it off the face of the Earth — if that does not happen, American Leaders will be considered ‘gutless’ cowards!” the text of the purported TRUTH Social post reads. The claim is false, as the image is digitally altered. In the original post, shared on TRUTH Social in July 2024, Trump wrote that he “hope[d] America obliterates Iran,” not Israel. Likewise, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. On Oct. 15, PolitiFact debunked the claim, also reporting that the image had been digitally altered. Furthermore, Trump does not appear to have referenced the altered image on his website, his TRUTH Social account, or his verified social media accounts. Trump’s original TRUTH Social post about obliterating Iran followed alleged assassination threats from the country, according to Reuters. Check Your Fact has contacted a Trump spokesperson for comment.
