| - Fact Check: Old video falsely shared as Rakesh Tikait was recently attacked in Karnataka
A video of black ink being thrown at Rakesh Tikait in Karnataka in 2022, under the BJP government, is misinterpreted as a recent video taken during the current Congress government.

Black ink was recently thrown at Rakesh Tikait, the leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, in Karnataka.Fact :
The viral video is old and shows Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait being attacked with black ink during a press conference held in Bengaluru in May 2022.Rakesh Tikait is a spokesperson of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU). Tikait has participated in the National Reflection Camp, a massive gathering of farmers for three to four days, held in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, in June 2026.
On June 15, 2026, a Facebook user shared the video of Rakesh Tikait (archived here), where his face was marked with blank ink. The title reads, “Black ink was thrown at farmer leader Rakesh Tikait and farmer leader Yudhveer Singh during a program organized in Karnataka. Now democracy is not in danger, it will not come because there is Congress government. If BJP had been there, it would have been dancing with Ghagra. (Translated from Hindi). The post has gained more than 2100 likes and 700 shares. Many sharing this video claimed that the incident occurred under the current Congress government in Karnataka.
The same video was also shared on the X platform, and an archive of the posts can be found here, here, and here.
Fact Check:
TeluguPost found that the video dates back to 2022, and it happened under the BJP government in Karnataka.
Reverse image search on the viral video keyframes led us to the ANI X post (archived here) dated May 30, 2022. The post had an image of Rakesh Tikait matches with the viral video. It was captioned “Bengaluru | No security has been provided by local police here. This has been done in collusion with the government: Bhartiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait on ink attack on him.”
Further, we found similar visuals posted on Times Now YouTube Channel (archived here) on May 30, 2022. It reports that farmer leaders Rakesh Tikait and Yudhvir Singh were attacked during a press conference held in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on May 30, 2022. He was giving clarification regarding a video of a sting operation by a regional channel in which Karnataka farmer leader Kodihalli Chandrashekar was caught asking for money. Following that, some people argued and attacked Tikait.
Hindustan Times reported that Tikait accused the then-Karnataka BJP government of not providing security during his visit, and Kisan Ekta Morcha, a farmer union, denounced the attack.
Therefore, it confirms that the viral video of Rakesh Tikait was captured in May 2022 in Karnataka. The video is not from June 2026.
