  • FACT CHECK: Protest Clip Shown In X Video Predates Current Israel-Hamas Conflict A viral video shared on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter, claims a massive protest recently took place in Israel, calling for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resign. Israel… this is what the media doesn’t want you to see…massive protest calling for war pig Benjamin Netanyahu (Bibi) to resign#StopGazaNakaba #Gaza_under_attack #غزة_الآن #Gazagenocide #FreeGaza #TheRealImage #IsraeliWarCrimes #IsrealPalestineconflict #hamas #israel #Gaza pic.twitter.com/7bbpL4OFX6 — وينستون (@Xwinston_) October 15, 2023 Verdict: False There is no evidence supporting the claim. A protest clip featured in the X video was originally published to YouTube by the U.K. outlet The Telegraph in March 2023. Fact Check: Netanyahu’s office released an Oct. 22 statement indicating French President Emmanuel Macron and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte will visit Israel this Monday and Tuesday, according to Reuters. Seven French citizens are still missing, while 30 others have been killed as a result of the current Israel-Hamas conflict, the Times of Israel reported. “Israel… this is what the media doesn’t want you to see…massive protest calling for war pig Benjamin Netanyahu (Bibi) to resign,” the video’s caption purports. The 41-second video opens with a scene of a large protest in Israel, followed by a clip from an ABC News report showing reporter Matt Gutman on the ground in Tel Aviv. Protestors holding the Israeli flag can be seen behind Gutman, who points out they are chanting, “Bibi is a murderer.” The video has received over 200,000 views as of writing. The clip showing the protest is not linked to the current Israel-Hamas conflict and was originally published to YouTube by The Telegraph in March 2023. According to the video, 500,000 people protested the Israeli government’s judicial reforms. The clip was also featured in an article from the outlet highlighting the protests. The clip of the report featuring Gutman is linked to the current Israel-Hamas conflict, however, and was uploaded to YouTube by ABC News on Oct. 14. Likewise, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports suggesting Israel held a recent protest calling for Netanyahu’s resignation. In addition, Netanyahu has not publicly commented on the claim.
