  • Fact Check: Photographer broke down in 2019 Asian Cup Not in Ayodhya A Photographer broke down after Iraq lost to Qatar but not while clicking pictures of Lord Ram in Ayodhya. Claim :Image showing a photographer crying while clicking images of Lord Ram's idol in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh Fact :Iraqi photographer during the Round of 16 clash against Qatar during Asian Cup – 2019 A collage image is going viral on social media with a claim that “A photographer crying while clicking images in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh of Newly inaugurated Lord Ram's idol.” On January 22, the new Ram Lalla idol was consecrated at the newly-constructed temple in a grand manner, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi performing the rituals. Along with the PM, several ministers, Bollywod and Hollywod stars were also present at the ceremony. Fifty traditional musical instruments were used to play the devotional “Mangal Dhwani” that resonated on the premises of the Ram temple during the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. Orchestrated by Ayodhya’s celebrated poet Yatindra Mishra, the grand musical rendition was supported by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi. The Lord Ram temple established in Ayodhya not only drew the attention of the nation but the entire world. It was telecast live on many national and international media. Just after the day of the consecration ceremony, a collage image became viral in social media with a caption: “Photographer Crying While Clicking Lord Ram Picture in Ayodhya.” (Many images and link removed by social media) Fact Check : After careful observation on different media reports, we found that the claim is false. We found the first photo of the photographer published on the official Facebook page of the AFC Asian Cup on January 24, 2019. Same photographs were also tweeted by e-Asian Cup’s official Twitter account with the caption "Passionate. Emotional moment for an Iraqi photographer during the Round of 16 clash against Qatar in Asian Cup2019." According to Alt News, in earlier days, the same fake news template was also circulated on social media with the caption: “Heartbreak photography..Photo lene vala bhi rone laga or photo dene vala bhi rone laga. The person mentioned Photographer cried after Dhoni runout. Conclusion: Based on the available evidence, the photographer is crying when he witnessed the Asia Cup – 2019 but not in Ayodhya.
