  • FACT CHECK: Does X Photo Show Recovered Laptops From The Jan. 6 Riot? A post shared on social media purportedly shows photos laptops that were stolen from the Capitol Building during the Jan. 6 riots. These are the computers from J6 operation. We have it all. Capt Kyle pic.twitter.com/GzKvEu7PO1 — Jack Straw (@JackStr42679640) August 13, 2023 Verdict: False The caption is inaccurate. The image is from a raid in Kenya in 2019. Fact Check: Presidential candidate Chris Christie said Tuesday that he would have prosecuted former President Donald Trump for the Jan. 6 riot, The Hill reported. Christie is also in favor of prosecuting Trump in relation to the mishandling of classified documents, but is still in favor of a fair trail “every American is entitled to.” The Twitter post claims to show laptops that were stolen from the Capitol during the Jan. 6 riots. The photo shows several Apple computers spread out over multiple desks. The caption reads, “These are the computers from J6 operation. We have it all. Capt Kyle.” The caption is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests this photo is related to Jan. 6. The photos date back to 2019 when the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) of Kenya posted on Twitter about successfully recovering several stolen laptops. Yesterday, Serious Crime Detectives recovered several assorted Laptops from a shop at Kimathi House. This was after a stolen Mac book was traced to the shop. One suspect arrested. We appeal to members of public who may have lost items to come to OIC #SeriousCrimeUnit & identify. pic.twitter.com/g838fjBABH — DCI KENYA (@DCI_Kenya) March 23, 2019 They wrote in part, “Yesterday, Serious Crime Detectives recovered several assorted Laptops from a shop at Kimathi House. This was after a stolen Mac book was traced to the shop. One suspect was arrested.” (RELATED: Did Illinois Pass A Bill Allowing Illegal Immigrants To Apply For The Police Force?) These images are unrelated to Jan. 6. However, there have been reports of stolen laptops from the riot at the Capitol. CNBC News reported that the suspect who recorded the theft of then- Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s laptop was jailed. This is not the first time misinformation has been shared online. Check Your Fact debunked a claim the new Disney live action remake of Snow White starring Rachel Zelger and Gal Gadot has been cancelled.
