The image has gone viral on various platforms of social media. https://www.facebook.com/ Fact Check: The claim that the viral image of PM Modi was taken inside a toilet is FALSE. The image was taken outside the Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in Delhi. Firstly, in the image, we can see the staircase beside the washbasin used by the PM. When we used Google reverse image search to find the original image, we found an article by Free Press Journal published on December 20, 2020. The article was titled 'In Pictures: PM Modi's surprise visit to Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in Delhi'. The viral image was a part of the photo story published in this article which also shows a staircase beside the washbasin being used by PM Modi. According to the article, PM Modi paid tributes to Guru Tegh Bahadur at Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in Delhi. Here are a few other articles showing related images and visuals of the PM's visit to the Gurudwara Shri Rakab Ganj Sahib in Delhi. When we checked the Google images, we found a few images of the washbasins arranged near the staircase, for the devotees to wash their hands and legs before entering the Gurudwara. Here are some images: In India, it is a ritual to wash hands and legs before entering holy places like temples, Gurudwara, etc. So, taps and washbasins can be seen near the entrances as the ones seen in the viral image. Hence, the claim that the viral image was taken in a toilet is FALSE. This image was shot near the entrance of Gurudwara which he visited in December 2020.
