Listen to Story India Today Fact Check The injured girl is a TikTok star who suffered a car accident A video of two girls in a hospital is going viral on social media wherein one of them is seen helping her injured friend walk and also trying to make her laugh. It is being claimed that the girl got injured in protests against the National Register of Citizens in Jawaharlal Nehru University. The Hindi caption along with the video translates to, This girl is trying to cheer her friend up who was injured in anti-NRC protests at JNU. This is how friendship should be, encouraging each other even in the most serious conditions. India Today Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) has found the claim to be false. The injured girl in the video is TikTok star Zara Khan who suffered a car accident. Facebook user shared the video which went viral on Facebook. Facebook page Online Viral also shared the video with a similar claim. This post was shared over 12,000 times till the filing of this story. The archived version of the post can be seen here. AFWA probe To verify the claim with the viral video, we segregated it into keyframes and ran a reverse search on one of them. We found the video on video-sharing social networking service TikTok, shared by a user with display name Zara Khan and TikTok handle @shivanisarkar4. She shared the video on December 22, 2019. Many of her fans enquired about the injury, to which she replied that she met with a car accident but is fine now. Zara has more than 52,400 followers on TikTok and this particular video received over 8.55 lakh likes. We tried to contact Zara through her Instagram account. We will update the story when she responds. Therefore, it is clear that the girl in the viral video was injured in a car accident and she has no connection to any anti-NRC protest at JNU.
