Tight Contest Voting concluded in Pakistan on Thursday at 5pm amid reports of escalating militant attacks and allegations of electoral misconduct, raising concerns about the integrity of the vote and the likelihood of a coalition government formation due to deep political divisions. A total of 265 seats were contested in Thursday’s election.The Election Commission of Pakistan began announcing results on Friday with media reportedly showing a close contest between Nawaz Sharif-led PML-N, Bilawal Bhutto’s PPP and Imran Khan’s PTI-backed Independents. Newschecker ran a reverse image search of the photo, which led us to this Facebook post by Imran Khan’s official page, dated October 14, 2018, stating Prime Minister Imran Khan had cast his vote in the NA-53 constituency earlier today. The same photo was posted by his party PTI’s Facebook page, confirming that it was an old photo being shared as recent. We also came across this news report from Pakistani media outlet 24News HD, dated October 14, 2018, stating that Khan had cast his vote for the by-elections that took place across Pakistan on October 14, 2018.
