Recently, candidates in Patna staged protests against the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination, with well-known coaching operator Khan Sir (Faizal Khan) expressing support for them. The following day, he was hospitalized due to a deterioration in his health. Now, a viral post circulating on social media claims that ‘Khan Sir’ passed away on December 10, 2024. Previously, similar posts regarding his alleged arrest had also gone viral. Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the claim of ‘Khan Sir’s’ death is just a rumour. He was admitted to the hospital due to dehydration and fever. He was discharged after his health improved. At the same time, Patna Police has also called the arrest of ‘Khan Sir’ a rumour. What is the viral post? Instagram user murari_lal_9744 posted a video on December 11, 2024 (archive link), featuring a picture of Khan Sir hospitalised along with a video of an ambulance, which reads, “Khan Sir died this morning 10/12/2024” Facebook user Viral News Fb posted the video (archived link) on December 9, 2024, with the caption, “Khan Sir Health News: Khan Sir’s health deteriorated! He has been arrested! | BPSC Students Protest | Bihar News” The video shows ‘Khan Sir’ admitted to the hospital. Investigation To verify the claim regarding Faizal Khan’s health, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords. According to the news published on Aaj Tak’s website on December 7, 2024, “On December 6, 2024, students protested against the change in the rules of the BPSC preliminary examination. ‘Khan Sir’ was with them. During that time the police used force. The next day, Khan was admitted to the hospital after his health deteriorated. He had problems with dehydration and fever.” According to the news published in Prabhat Khabar on December 9, 2024 ‘Khan Sir’ has been discharged from the hospital. To verify the information, we contacted Jitendra Kumar, senior reporter at Patna Dainik Jagran. He confirmed that ‘Khan Sir’ has been discharged from the hospital and is now in good health. He further clarified that the post claiming his death is fake. Next, we investigated the claim of ‘Khan Sir’s’ arrest. A related news article published in the Patna edition of Dainik Jagran on December 8, 2024, addressed the issue. It says, “Secretariat SDPO (First) Dr Anu Kumari has called the claim of ‘Khan Sir’s’ arrest a rumour. She said that ‘Khan Sir’ himself had reached Gardanibagh police station in support of the protesting students. After some time, he was dropped off at Atal Path in a police vehicle. He was neither arrested nor detained. A case has been registered against ex-handle Khan Global Studies for posting the misleading arrest.” Senior reporter Jitendra Kumar confirmed that Khan Sir was not arrested. We scanned the profile of the Instagram user who made the false claim. The user, who created the video has around 24000 followers. Conclusion: Khan Sir’s health deteriorated after the protest over the BPSC exam in Patna, leading to his hospitalisation. He has since been discharged.
