Fact Check: An iron sphere washed up on a Japanese shore with no indication of its origin or what its purpose is, according to The Guardian. Following a string of recent shoot-downs by the U.S. air force, some have been concerned about a potential rise in UFO sightings, The New York Times reported. An Instagram video allegedly shows a UFO in the night sky in Poland. The video opens with a thin white streak in the sky which then expands as onlookers watch. “The air force shoots down a UFO in Poland,” the caption reads. “See by many witnesses. What do you think of this footage?” (RELATED: Does This Video Show A Recent UFO Being Shot Down?) The video is miscaptioned. A reverse image search found that the clip stems from a YouTube video posted on Dec. 30, 2022. A photo showing a different angle of the occurrence was posted by Associated Press, with the caption suggesting the light was from South Korea testing a rocket at the time. The unannounced launch caused some to make their own theories. Several news outlets reported that many thought it to be a UFO. The military apologized for the scare, explaining they were testing a “homegrown solid-fuel space rocket,” according to The Korea Herald. This is not the first time misinformation has spread online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a video claiming to show the Chinese spy balloon.
