Jana Sena chief, actor-turned-politician Power Star Pawan Kalyan is contesting in the upcoming Assembly elections of Andhra Pradesh from Pithapuram. His party candidates will contest from 21 seats out of the total 175 MLA seats. While BJP will contest 10 seats, the TDP will contest for 144 seats.
After the alliance between TDP-BJP and Janasena was formed, several videos and images are being shared virally on social media spreading misinformation. One such video showing a college girl making satirical comments on Pawan Kalyan during a public meeting is shared virally on WhatsApp as well as Instagram.
The girl can be seen commenting in Telugu that Pawan Kalyan is a star who passed his 10th-grade with grace marks. Even though he read 2 lakh books, he failed Intermediate (12th grade). He is a marriage star, a package star. All of them are following him like sheep. She goes on to say that she told her parents that they were all slaves for Pawan Kalyan. They are all IPS- I Package star Soldiers. Power star equals to package as Pawan Kalyan mentioned Jana Sena is for Chandrababu Naidu. Jai Jana Sena.
The video is shared with captions that a Jana Sena member is commenting satirically about the party chief.
Fact Check:
The claim is False. The girl seen in the video is not passing negative comments about Pawan Kalyan and this video is not recent.
When we performed a Google reverse image search on the keyframes extracted, we found that the original video was from a public meeting that was conducted for students in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh in the year 2019.
The YouTube channel named filmy focus published the video on March 5, 2019 with the title “Lady Fan powerful speech about Pawan Kalyan @Janasena Students Meet in Prakasam- Filmy focus.com”. She was speaking at Jana Sena students meeting in Prakasam district in which a large number of students from across the district participated. Speeches by other students also can be seen in this video.
In the original video, the girl student can be heard speaking about a few people born in Prakasam but who made it big in the society, even when there are no proper education facilities in the district. She compares Pawan Kalyan to Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose. She also states that the students are all Jana Sena soldiers. IPS means I Pawan Soldier. Recalling that Pawan Kalyan had said helping people is equal to worshipping God, she vowed to help the Jana Sena chief. Jai Jana Sena.
The same video was published on the YouTube channel of Mango News on March 6, 2019, with the title ‘Pawan Kalyan Lady Fan Mind Blowing Speech At Prakasam | Pawan Kalyan Speech | Jana Sena Latest News’
Therefore, the viral video showing a college girl commenting about Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan sarcastically is an edited one. The original audio has been replaced with audio to give completely opposite meaning. The claim is False.
