  • A video is going viral on social media which shows several women coming out of a tunnel. The claim states that it shows a during a raid on Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Uddhav Thackeray's son Aaditya Thackeray. How did we find out the truth?: We performed a relevant keyword search on Google, which led us to several reports about Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Vinayak Raut filing a police complaint alleging that an old video is being falsely linked to Aaditya Thackeray to defame him. The Print, Deccan Herald, Tribune India, Free Press Journal and Lokmat Times also shared reports about this on 10 January. The reports also stated that this video as allegedly shot at a dance bar in Mumbai’s Andheri and shows women coming out of a tunnel built inside the premises. Taking a cue, we ran a relevant keyword search on Google and came across a report shared by India Today, NDTV and ABP Live. These reports were shared in December 2021 and stated that at least 17 women were rescued during a raid at Deepa bar in Andheri. It added that the women were found inside a secret basement which was connected to a make-up room. None of the reports mentioned Thackeray's link to the bar. What about Aaditya Thackeray's property in Mumbai?: We checked his election affidavit where is it clarified that he contested from Worli assembly seat in Maharashtra and that he does not own any commercial property in Andheri, as claimed. It also mentions that he owns two commercial properties, one in Thane and the other in Kalyan. Conclusion: An old video of a police raid in Mumbai's bar is being falsely linked to Aaditya Thackeray.
