Lead Stories reached out to the FBI field office in Las Vegas. In a phone interview on December 20, 2024, the agency directed Lead Stories to a Joint Statement on Ongoing Response to Reported Drone Sightings (archived here) published with the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Aviation Administration and Department of Defense. It read, in part:
DoD takes unauthorized access over its airspace seriously and coordinates closely with federal, state, and local law enforcement authorities, as appropriate. Local commanders are actively engaged to ensure there are appropriate detection and mitigation measures in place.
