New Delhi (Vishvas News): A photo of a girl with a snow leopard is circulating widely on various social media platforms, accompanied by a fictional narrative. The image depicts a girl sitting with a snow leopard, and many users are sharing it with a fabricated story claiming that it is from Gilgit.
The story alleges that a young girl named Gulmina from Gilgit once mistook a leopard cub for a kitten and brought it home. She cared for the cub until her family discovered the truth and released the animal back into the wild. Despite this, the leopard supposedly continues to visit Gulmina.
Social media users, believing this narrative to be true, are sharing the picture in large numbers. Vishvas News investigated the viral post and found it to be fake. The image was created with the help of an AI program called MidJourney.
What Is Going Viral?
The viral image was initially posted on Facebook by user Faizan Alam, who claimed it showed Gulmina from Gilgit. He wrote, “When Gulmina from Gilgit was young, she brought home a leopard cub, mistaking it for a kitten. She fed it milk and cared for it. After a few days, when her family realized it was a leopard, they decided to release it into the forest. However, the leopard, now grown, continues to visit Gulmina. It is wild. Look at the loyalty of animals!”
This post was made on April 3, and it has been shared by other users as well.
This picture is also viral on threads. A user named Haider Ali Shah uploaded this picture on his Threads handle on March 4.
Investigation
Vishvas News used the Google Lens tool to analyze the viral photo. After conducting a reverse image search, we found the picture posted on an Instagram handle named babrakk on March 24. The caption accompanying the image mentioned Shirin with her partner. When users expressed surprise in the comments, the babrakk handle clarified that the picture was created with the help of MidJourney, an AI program.
Further investigation of the Babrakk handle revealed several other imaginary pictures created using AI. These images clearly indicated their fictional nature.
Vishvas News contacted AI expert Abhijeet Parashar, who confirmed that the viral picture was created using AI. Cybersecurity advisor Chatak Vajpayee also verified that the image was generated with the MidJourney tool.
