  • FACT CHECK: Did Pam Bondi Threaten To Investigate And Prosecute Nancy Pelosi? An image shared on Facebook claims Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi purportedly posted a tweet threatening to investigate and prosecute Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi. Verdict: False The claim is false and originally stems from @PamBondiAG, a social media user on X that describes itself as posting parody content. Fact Check: Bondi is set to meet with Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley on Monday, according to the Washington Examiner. Bondi’s nomination marks at least the fourth time one of President-elect Donald Trump’s current or former defense lawyers has been nominated for a “top role” at the Justice Department, USA Today reported. The Facebook image claims Bondi purportedly posted a tweet threatening to investigate and prosecute Pelosi. “Nancy Pelosi’s salary is $175k yet she has a net worth of $200 million+,” the purported tweet begins. “I will investigate and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law,” it continues. The claim is false. An advanced search of Bondi’s verified X account @PamBondi does not generate the purported tweet. Likewise, the supposed remark is not referenced on Bondi’s associated Facebook and Instagram accounts. In addition, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. On Nov. 27, USA Today debunked the claim. According to the outlet, the claim is satire and originally stems from @PamBondiAG, a social media user on X that describes itself as posting parody content. While the initial post appears to have been deleted, an archived version of the tweet shows it amassed over 100,000 likes and over 18,000 re-posts. Trump chose Bondi as his nominee for attorney general after his previous nominee, Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz, withdrew his name from consideration, according to NBC News. Bondi previously served as Florida’s attorney general from 2011 to 2019, the outlet indicated. Check Your Fact has contacted a Trump spokesperson for comment.
