Chuck Grassley drove Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi “to tears” in congress. Verdict: False This claim is baseless. There is no evidence Grassley made Pelosi cry during an argument. Fact Check: Pelosi is considering another bid for Speaker of the House, CNN reported. Democrats are unsure about the speaker’s future in congress, with some suggesting she may stay in an “emeritus role” that would still allow her to have influence in the party, The New York Times reported. The Facebook post purports Pelosi recently cried in a debate with Grassley. The thumbnail shows Grassley and President Joseph Biden with Hunter Biden in the middle, circled. “‘Why Did You 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇 𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐌𝐏,'” the title reads. “Pelosi 𝐂𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐊𝐈𝐃𝐒 After Grassley Slams Her With Hunter’s ‘Contract.'” The caption is baseless. Pelosi has not mentioned any such encounter on her verified social media accounts. Grassley also has not made mention of this on his verified Twitter account. Likewise, there has not been any press releases from either or any credible news reports suggesting Grassley engaged in any such argument with Pelosi. The video is of Grassley on the Senate floor in March, 2022. discussing the finances of Hunter Biden. He did not fight with Pelosi during his address nor does he mention the speaker during his speech. Check Your Fact has contacted the offices of Pelosi and Grassley for comment.
