Vishvas News investigated and found the viral post to be fake. Major Bakshi is perfectly fine and residing in Gurugram currently. Claim A Facebook user Om Prakash Jakhar shared the picture of retired Major General Gagandeep Bakshi with a caption: “Don’t know how many lives Coronavirus has taken, after Rohit Sardana, its your Major General ji who has voiced his strong voice for nationalism on famous TV channels. Bakshi ji also lost his life from coronavirus. May God grant salvation to the departed soul.” The archived version of the post can be seen here. Investigation Vishvas News searched regarding the viral post with the help of keywords on the Internet. We did not find any such media report that confirms the news of General Bakshi’s death. General Bakshi is a well-known figure. If something like this had happened to them, it would have been in the news in the media by now, but neither did we get any media reports related to his suffering from coronavirus nor did he die. After that we explored all the social media handles of General Bakshi. We found a tweet from General Bakshi dated May 7, 2021, in which he wrote that he was absolutely fine and that rumors of his death should not be believed. Vishvas News contacted General Bakshi for confirmation. We spoke to him on the phone and he said that he feels that this message on his name is going viral on social media because he said that coronavirus came from China. We scanned the profile of the Facebook user Om Prakash Jakhar who shared the viral post. We found that the user is based out of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found the viral post to be fake. Major Bakshi is perfectly fine and residing in Gurugram currently. - Claim Review : Don't know how many lives Coronavirus has taken, after Rohit Sardana, its your Major General ji who has voiced his strong voice for nationalism on famous TV channels.
