  • Fact Check: Viral video is Old, not just before cable bridge collapse in Morbi, Gujarat More than 100 people were reported to have died in this incident. According to The Hindu, the suspension bridge was reopened a few days ago, even without checking for its fitness. An old bridge built during the British era on the Machchu river in Morbi, Gujarat, collapsed on October 30, 2022, within a week of its renovation. More than 100 people were reported to have died in this incident. According to The Hindu, the suspension bridge was reopened a few days ago, even without checking for its fitness. Owing to the festive season, many tourists visited the place and the high footfall led to the collapse of the cable bridge around 6.30 pm, leading to a major disaster. Meanwhile, a video is in circulation claiming that it shows visuals of the bridge moments before the collapse of the bridge. Several social media users shared the video with the claim "Moments before the cable bridge collapsed in Morbi, Gujarat. #MorbiBridge #Gujarat Several media websites also shared this video with the claim that it shows moments before the collapse of the cable bridge in Morbi. https://timesofindia. https://www.ndtv.com/india- https://www.ibtimes.co.in/ Fact check: The claim is FALSE. The viral video was also shared by Times Now with the same claim that it shows people able to feel the bridge shaking moments before the collapse, but later deleted it. When we observed the comments on this tweet, we found a comment stating that the viral video is at least 4 year old, along with a snapshot of a YouTube video with the title "Julta pull in morbi.. #hanging bridge in India.." Taking this as a cue, we searched using the keywords "Julta pull in morbi", we found a video posted on December 10, 2021, by a YouTube channel, Aru Edit. The video posted by this channel is the same as the viral video. We also found a similar video shared in December 2018 on YouTube. Therefore, the viral video shared is an old one and does not show the visuals before the tragic collapse of the suspension bridge in Morbi. The claim is FALSE.
