A video of Hyderabad MP and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi is now making rounds on social media. In the video, Owaisi is chanting Shiv Tandav while addressing a public gathering.
Asaduddin Owaisi is MP from Hyderabad and the national president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). Asaduddin Owaisi is very popular for his oratory skills. Recently, a video is in circulation on social media claiming that he is chanting Bhajan on the stage while addressing a public gathering.
A social media user, Malathi Readdy 2.0, posted a video of Asaduddin Owaisi chanting Shiv Tandav.
With a caption “మాధవీ లత గారు పోటీ చేస్తారు అనగానే సాహెబ్ గారి నోటినుండి శివ తాండవ స్తోత్రం అద్భుతంగా చెప్పారు సార్, మత ఘర్షణలు లేకుండ చూసుకుంటే మీరే మళ్లీ గెలుస్తారు-నా సొంత అభిప్రాయం”
On translation, it read: “Saheb (Asaduddin Owaisi) is singing Shiv Tandav when BJP said it would field Madhavi Lata against him for Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat. You chanted the stotra well sir. If you ensure that no communal clashes take place in your constituency, you will win the elections again, this is my personal opinion".
Several social media users posted the same video. In each video Asaduddin Owaisi is chanting different bhajans.
Fact Check : The claim is False.
On searching with the help of Google Reverse Image search, we found this video has been on the internet since 2022. In the original video, Asaduddin Owaisi is addressing the public but did not chant bhajan.
We initially conducted a keyword search for “Asaduddin Owaisi Chanting Bhajan” but did not find any news or any other relevant article related to this.
After conducting a Google reverse image search, we found News 18 Urdu posted the same video on their YouTube channel during Live Stream on Oct 26, 2022, with a caption “Asaduddin Owaisi addressing a public meeting in Bijapur, Karnataka city. Why Amit Shah will not continue the survey of border areas where there are non-Muslims? After all, on what basis are Amit Shah and the BJP people doubting the Muslims of the border areas? - Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi”.
When we searched for Asaduddin Owaisi addressing public meeting in Bijapur, Karnataka city, we found Owaisi uploaded the same video on his official Facebook page on Oct 26, 2022, with a caption “Modi ji, kya Bijapur Pakistan hai?”
Bijapur, Karnataka ka dil hai, Bijapur Karnataka ka itihaas hai aur Bijapur ke Gol Gumbaz Karnataka ki Khubsurti ki misaal hai. - Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi”.
If you observe the viral video keenly you can find facial movements and expressions are quite unnatural. Also, if you carefully listen to the audio, it doesn’t match with his lip movement.
Hence, the claim is False. The viral video is edited.
