  • FACT CHECK: Claim That Vivek Ramaswamy Announced Ohio Gubernatorial Campaign Is Satire An image shared on Facebook purports to show an X post from Vivek Ramaswamy announcing his Ohio gubernatorial campaign. Verdict: False The claim is false and originally stems from a Jan. 17 post from @VivekRammaswamy, a parody account on X. Fact Check: Ramaswamy has reportedly exited President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) following “deep philosophical differences over how the panel should operate” with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, according to The Washington Post. DOGE focuses on “regulatory rescissions, administrative reductions and cost savings,” the outlet reported, citing a November op-ed written by Ramaswamy for The Wall Street Journal. The Facebook image purports to show an X post from Ramaswamy announcing his Ohio gubernatorial campaign. “I am officially announcing my candidacy for governor of Ohio. I am ready to lead with vision, integrity, and a commitment to addressing the needs of every Ohioan. Together, we can build a brighter future for our state,” the text of the purported X post reads. The claim is false and originally stems from a Jan. 17 post from @VivekRammaswamy, a parody account on X. The post has amassed over five million views as of writing. The account clearly labels itself as sharing parody content. Likewise, Check Your Fact did not find the claim referenced on Ramaswamy’s official website or his verified social media accounts. However, he did reply to the parody post saying a potential gubernatorial campaign “isn’t a bad idea.” “Note – the below is a parody account. (Not a bad idea, though),” Ramaswamy wrote. In addition, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. On Jan. 23, Reuters debunked the claim, indicating it originally stemmed from the parody account. Check Your Fact has contacted a Ramaswamy spokesperson for comment.
