Sam Horsfield holds a narrow one-stroke lead heading into the final day of the English Open in Birmingham despite a stuttering finish to his third round on Saturday. The 23-year-old Englishman surged six shots clear after five birdies on the front nine but lost his way, giving up three bogeys and a double on the way home to record a 71 that left him 14-under for the event. Welshman Oliver Farr, Denmark's Rasmus Hojgaard and Mikko Korhonen of Finland are in a three-way tie for second at Forest of Arden. "My caddie just said to me coming off the 18th green, 'If someone would have said to you on Thursday you can have a one shot lead going into Sunday, you would take it,'" Horsfield told europeantour.com. "I've made it a little bit harder for myself from the position I was in but I'm still looking forward to tomorrow, it'll be a lot of fun." Miguel Angel Jimenez, playing in a record 707th European Tour event, is seven shots back after shooting a one-over 73. The 56-year-old Spaniard had been as high as second on the leaderboard following an opening 64. mw/dj
