The news added to unease about higher coronavirus cases and hospitalizations in Texas, Arizona and other states that have reopened their economies. Major US indices last week notched losses partly due to this uptick in COVID-19 cases, with the Nasdaq retreating from a record. This week's calendar includes US retail sales for May and two days of congressional testimony from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. Among individual companies, Shopify jumped 5.7 percent after Walmart said it was partnering with the company to bolster its online marketplace for third-party sellers.
