Some fans are to be allowed back into stadiums to watch the final round of the Portuguese football league on May 19 to test out a potential return of spectators, who have been barred during the Covid-19 pandemic. Access to stadiums will be limited to 10% capacity and will be exclusively reserved for fans of the home side. All fans must show proof of a negative quick coronavirus test, the Portuguese league said. The matches were "tests" with the goal of "allowing the return of fans into stadiums", added Liga Portugal. All matches of the 34th and final round of games are scheduled for May 19, with kick-off times yet to be announced. Sporting Lisbon were crowned champions of Portugal for the first time in almost two decades on Tuesday. A 1-0 win over Boavista at their Jose Alvalade Stadium clinched Sporting's 19th title with the last coming back in 2002. lf/lp/mw
