  • British rookie Jake Dennis won his first Formula E race at the second Valencia Grand Prix on Sunday. After the race on Saturday, when only nine of the 24 drivers finished after the others either crashed on the wet surface or ran out of energy before the finish, the second round in Valencia, on a dry track, was much less frantic. Dennis followed his first pole position in the category in a BMW-Andretti by leading from start to finish to win. German Andre Lotterer of Porsche, who had been the only driver not to score points in the world championship, was second and Briton Alex Lynn in a Mahindra was third. Only Stoffel Vandoorne was forced to retire after a collision. Frenchman Norman Nato (Venturi), in fifth place, would have inherited second place but for a five-second penalty for overtaking Lynn. None of the championship leaders scored points and the top places in the standings remained unchanged, with Dutchman Nyck De Vries of Mercedes nine points ahead of his Belgian team-mate Vandoorne and 14 ahead of Briton Sam Bird of Jaguar. Behind the top six, however, the gaps have narrowed. It was the first time that Formula E had raced on a permanent track rather than a temporary urban track. The next round of the all-electric series takes place in Monaco on May 8. Results 1. Jake Dennis (GBR/BMW-Andretti) 30 laps in 46 minutes 32.002sec 2. Andre Lotterer (GER/Porsche) at 1.483sec 3. Alex Lynn (GBR/Mahindra) 2.428, 4. Oliver Rowland (GBR/Nissan e.dams) 2.870, 5. Norman Nato (FRA/Venturi) 5.811 World championship standings after six rounds (out of 15) 1. Nyck de Vries (NED/Mercedes) 57 pts, 2. Stoffel Vandoorne (BEL/Mercedes) 48, 3. Sam Bird (GBR/Jaguar) 43, 4. Robin Frijns (NED/Virgin Racing) 43 5. Mitch Evans (NZL/Jaguar) 39 pel/pb/nr
