  • Scottish champions Rangers thrashed 10-man Celtic 4-1 to ensure a miserable end to Hoops captain Scott Brown's Old Firm career on Sunday. Celtic midfielder Brown will join Aberdeen in the close-season after 14 years largely in the dominant position in Glasgow's bitter Old Firm derbies. There was no last success for Brown however as Kemar Roofe's double and strikes from Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe gave Steven Gerrard's side a convincing victory at Ibrox. Celtic were reduced to 10 men after Callum McGregor collected two quick-fire bookings and Odsonne Edouard's equaliser of Roofe's opener was as good as it got for the deposed champions. Rangers' biggest derby victory since 2007 kept them on course for an unbeaten Scottish Premiership season. Not only have Rangers ended Celtic's bid for 10 successive Scottish titles this season, but they have now also completed an unbeaten top-flight campaign against them for the first time in 21 years. And they now only have Livingston and Aberdeen to overcome as they seek to round off an invincible league campaign. McGregor was booked in the 23rd minute for an innocuous trip on Ryan Kent and the Hoops midfielder saw red after catching Glen Kamara late three minutes later. Adding to Celtic's frustration, the dismissal was only triggered after Roofe steered Kent's shot into the bottom corner with his chest. As the hosts celebrated, McGregor received his marching orders for the foul that occurred in the build-up to the goal. Celtic equalised from David Turnbull's corner on the half-hour mark, with Kristoffer Ajer's knockdown headed home by Edouard from point-blank range. Rangers were back in front when Morelos picked the ball up on the edge of the area and sneaked the ball between Brown's legs before firing home. They struck again on 57 minutes as Roofe sprayed the ball out to Barisic and hared into the box to get on the end of the Croat's cross as he powered his header into the net. That was Brown's final involvement as John Kennedy spared the captain any further humiliation, introducing Ismaila Soro. But Celtic's anguish was not over yet as Defoe completed the rout with a close-range finish in stoppage-time. smg/nr
