About 10 minutes into trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.2 percent at 34,124.37. The broad-based S&P 500 gained 0.2 percent to 4,189.75, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 0.3 percent to 14,052.31. Among individual companies, Apple was flat after announcing it will boost its investment plans in the United States to $430 billion over the next five years -- more than 20 percent higher than the previous plan.
