  • Here are the latest developments in the coronavirus crisis. US top infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci is among three members of the White House coronavirus task force who will self-isolate after potential exposure, according to US media reports. After more than a month without reporting any new cases, Wuhan, the Chinese city where the outbreak first started, announces its first case since April 3. South Korea's capital orders the closure of all clubs and bars after more than 50 cases so far have been linked to a 29-year-old man who tested positive after spending time at five clubs and bars in Itaewon, one of the city's busiest nightlife districts, last weekend. Gyeonggi province which surrounds Seoul also orders more than 5,700 entertainment facilities to suspend operations for two weeks starting Sunday. Former US president Barack Obama launches a scathing attack on Donald Trump's handling of the pandemic, calling it an "absolute chaotic disaster", in a leaked web call Friday night with former members of his administration. The virus has killed at least 279,185 people since it surfaced in China late last year, according to an AFP tally at 1100 GMT Sunday, based on official sources. Cases worldwide have now surged past 4 million, with at least 4,035,470 infections recorded. The United States is the worst-hit country, with 78,794 deaths. Britain follows with 31,587, then Italy with 30,395 deaths, Spain with 26,621 and France with 26,310. Brazil, the hardest-hit Latin American country, surpasses 10,000 deaths, according to figures released by the Ministry of Health. Congress and the Supreme Court decree an official mourning period of three days. President Jair Bolsonaro meanwhile is reportedly seen jet skiing on Lake Paranoa in Brasilia, and officials tell AFP he does not plan to make a statement to the country on the latest toll. A third player at Premier League football club Brighton tests positive, raising new concerns about the attempt to finish the English top-flight season. In Germany, where the football season is to resume May 16, Bundesliga 2 side Dynamo Dresden have put their entire squad and staff into two-week isolation after two players test positive. burs-kd-eab/jh
