Slovakian MPs will be required to wear face masks and gloves to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus as they meet on Friday for the first parliamentary sitting since last month's election. "We'll try to eliminate the spread of the virus by complying with all protective measures," Veronika Piatkova, a parliamentary press spokesperson, told AFP on Tuesday. "MPs will have to disinfect their hands, put on protective gloves and face masks before entering the chamber during the inaugural meeting." Slovakia's 150 MPs will also have their temperature checked as they enter parliament and may be asked to detail their travel history and any symptoms. Each of them will shake hands with President Zuzana Caputova as they are sworn in. Her office has not yet confirmed whether she too would wear a mask. Slovakia had 84 confirmed cases of novel coronavirus with no deaths as of Tuesday. juh/mas/jxb
